Marta Thorsheim LECTURE aND WORKSHOP
Marta Thorsheim, a former MBA and MM, director of Norwegian international companies and change management program, turned in the early 1990s to study Psychotherapy. Her focus soon became the Trauma of Identity.
For the past 25 years, Thorsheim has met with clients and workshop participants in Europe, Asia and Australia. This is her first visit to the US.
Co-author with Dr. Franz Ruppert of Early Trauma and My Body, My Trauma, My I, Thorsheim integrates trauma and bonding theory and clinical work to ask, in this workshop, two simple questions:
Who am I? And what do I really want?
She has come to understand that we can only look to ourselves for substantial change, our own identity. The I must be the central focus. But what is I? What is identity? How does it develop? What is blocking its development? What enhances it? And how does trauma (and the consequent pain and confusion) or bonding (and the consequent growth) affect it?
Why is the development of a healthy Identity so difficult? How do the trauma of love and other early trauma dynamics form and split our identity? And what options are available to overcome the splits that are hidden deep within our psyche?
This is an open workshop in Los Angeles for anyone interested in learning how earliest experiences shape their lives.
Working in roughly hour-long sessions, using the “sentence of intention” as developed by Dr. Franz Ruppert, Marta helps participants access core issues involving early trauma in childhood, infancy, birth and even pre-natal and transgenerational trauma.
In this way a person’s healthy I (core identity) and healthy will (what we really want) begin to gain the freedom to develop and grow.
These workshops will be in a group setting overlooking the Pacific ocean in beautiful Temescal Canyon, Pacific Palisades, just north of Santa Monica.
Please contact us if you need help in finding accommodations.
HOW IT WORKS
Based on cutting-edge trauma research and 30 years of clinical work, the “sentence of intention” also draws on Bert Hellinger’s Family Constellations’ use of “resonance giving”.
Bring together a group of people. Have one person (the subject) present a strong personal need or issue (sentence of intention), i.e., I want to be joyful; I want a loving partner; I want to be strong and clear. etc.).
Take each word in the sentence and have the subject pick others in this gathering to experience each word.
In less than an hour the others (often strangers) will deliver profound and important details about the subject’s earliest issues. These details shed light on some of the subject’s core developmental dynamics, which have made life challenging, often without the subject’s previous knowledge.
WHY IT WORKS
Bonding with one’s mother (or mother substitute) is critical to how an identity develops. Unborn children, infants and toddlers are extremely vulnerable to various traumas or “troubles” (big and small). These troubles can go unremembered and unaddressed as we grow up.
But these unremembered troubles leave a biological impression in the body, which can be sensed (often very powerfully) in the bodies of the people surrounding us. As the best selling book makes clear, “The Body Keeps Score”.
An explanation for this phenomena is emerging from trauma and bonding theory and from the “new sciences” of epigenetic and quantum mechanics, as well as from research involving indigenous healing.
THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU IF:
You make important promises in your life that you can’t keep.
You are struggling, overwhelmed or saddened by your personal life.
You are going through personal or professional changes.
You are a therapist, facilitator, coach, trainer, consultant who wants to experiment and enrich your approach with a method that has been proven extremely powerful in Europe and Asia.
You have done family constellations and feel there is still more to learn regarding the use of Hellinger’s work with resonance.
You have spent most of your life feeling that something is wrong.
